The General Assembly of the Islamic Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture (ICCIA), an affiliated institution of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), has agreed to reopen Cairo office to be its main regional office in Africa.
The General Secretariat of the Chamber has raised this proposal to activate the launch of ICCIA projects in the African member chambers. The office will also considered as headquarter for the chamber’s strategic communication department, which will manage all ICCIA activities in three different languages: English, Arabic and French.
The General Secretariat of the Chamber has also highlighted that the choice of Cairo to be the headquarter of ICCIA media team came after studying several options, but the distinguished features of Cairo have made it the ideal choice for the chamber’s work and for launching its African projects.
The strategic location of Cairo, the presence of many regional offices of international institutions and the availability of specialized and efficient human resources in three languages as well; are the main reasons that lead Cairo to be the best choice for the chamber. This is in addition to the clear and encouraging procedures of the Egyptian government to host international organizations. It is therefore not surprising that Cairo has a long history of international relations in hosting the largest events and institutions.
Moreover, the Secretary General of ICCIA, Yousuf Hassan Khalawi, declared that opening the office in Cairo affirms the importance of Egypt as a major gateway to Africa, which increases the effectiveness of the team in developing and managing African projects and facilitates the communication between the chamber’s members across the continent.
Khalawi stressed on the importance of the media and its projects that will launch by the chamber – after the completion of preparations in Cairo’s regional office – which also included economic aspects of information that will provide important and inclusive databases to serve all the member states as well as those interested in these countries from outside.
