Out of ICCIA’s ongoing efforts to promote Islamic economy worldwide, Mr. Syed Saad Ali Pasha, Business Development Manager at ICCIA, participated as a speaker in a session entitled “Economic Resilience and Food Security: Integrating Islamic Finance in the Agricultural Supply Chain”, as part of the AAOIFI-ISDB 17th Annual Islamic Banking and Finance Conference, held throughout Sunday and Monday, November 27- 28, 2022, at Crown Plaza Hotel, Kingdom of Bahrain.
During his participation in the conference, Mr. Saad highlighted ICCIA’s exerted efforts to promote social finance for enhancing food security and building climate resilience, pointing out ICCIA’s microfinance bank for the G-5 Sahel region and its crucial role in supporting MSMEs and empowering women and youth, as well as the Agricultural Commodities Exchange Project and how it will reduce information asymmetries for small holders in African member countries.
It should be noted that the above session has been chaired by Dr. Sami Suwailem, Acting Director General, Islamic Development Bank Institute (IsDBI) and Chief Economist, Islamic Development Bank Group, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and included some of the world’s most prominent business leaders and Islamic economy experts, namely: Dr. Harun Celik, Senior Expert, Trade Solutions Complex, Islamic Trade Finance Corporation (ITFC), IsDB Group, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Dr. Tarifa Al Zaabi, Director General, International Center for Biosaline Agriculture (ICBA), United Arab Emirates.
