As part of ICCIA’s pursuit to enhance economic cooperation among its member states, a delegation from the Islamic Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture, consists of Ms. Aalia Jafer, Director of International Relations, and Dr. Abdel Badih Al Dada, Director of the Events Management Department, participated in the D-8 high-level meeting, held at the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industries (FPCCI), on the 14th of October, 2022.
The meeting was attended by the President of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industries (FPCCI), Mr. Irfan Iqbal Sheikh, besides the Consul Generals of Indonesia, Malaysia, Turkiye, Bangladesh and the commercial attaché of Iran.
During the meeting, the parties shared various potentials and opportunities of cooperation within the D-8 countries, and highlighted the importance of this cooperation in strengthening the economic security of the D-8 member countries. They also discussed the role of the D-8 Chamber in promoting the intra-trade among these countries.
Furthermore, ICCIA delegation shared the developed strategies and policies for driving the development of OIC private sector forward, highlighting the necessity to develop leadership in the future to promote the OIC private sector’s sustainable and resilient growth.
It is noteworthy that the D-8 (Developing 8) is an organization for developing the cooperation among its member countries, namely: Bangladesh, Egypt, Indonesia, Malaysia, Iran, Nigeria, Pakistan and Turkey. Its headquarters is in Istanbul, Turkey.
