In the context of the attention given to promote private sector`s role in developing various areas of economic cooperation between Syria & United Arab Emirates, and on the sidelines of Expo2020- Dubai, a meeting has been held between Mr. Samir Elkhalil, Minister of Economy and Foreign Affairs of the Arab Republic of Syria, and Mr. Abdullah Touk, Minister of Economy of UAE, to discuss ways and means of enhancing mutual economic ties between the two countries.
According to this meeting, Ministry of Economy and Foreign Trade of Syria issued a decision to form the UAE- Syrian Business Council. The decision also appointed Mr. Ghzwan Elmesry as a president of the council and Mr. Anas Maatouk as a vice president. And it is supposed that the UAE side would also appoint a president and a vice president for the opposite council.
No doubt that UAE- Syrian Council would contribute to the reconstruction process of Syria, and help the two parties to overcome constraints and obstacles that limit the process of promoting their cooperation, towards more integration and strong economic ties between Syria and United Arab Emirates.
