ICCIA Secretary General, H.E. Mr. Yousef Khalawi, recently embarked on a visit to Tashkent, the capital city of Uzbekistan, where met with the esteemed Rakhimov family. Renowned for their exceptional craftsmanship in creating ceramics in a national style, the Rakhimovs have established themselves as custodians of Uzbekistan’s rich ceramic heritage. The meeting was held in the Rakhimovs’ private studio, a space that not only serves as a ceramic workshop but also doubles as an exhibition hall.
The Rakhimov family, spanning three generations, has dedicated themselves to reviving and promoting the traditions of old Uzbek ceramics both locally and on a global scale. Led by Mr. Akbar Rakhimov, the family’s private house has been transformed into a hub of creativity, where the meticulous art of ceramic-making is practiced and showcased.
During the visit, Mr. Khalawi had the privilege of witnessing firsthand the Rakhimovs’ artistic prowess. The studio, situated in the old traditional part of Tashkent, exudes an aura of authenticity and charm.
